Dawna Doula CD(DONA)
Thirteen years ago I was blessed with my son. The contrast between my own birth experience and my birthing philosophies made me realize that in order to achieve a mother’s desired childbirth, there is a critical need for professional labor support.
For most of my life, I've known that childbearing support was my true calling. I became a certified birth doula through the Doulas of North America (DONA) to pursue my dreams and immediately discovered that indeed, this was what I am meant to do. I have assisted several dozens of expecting families and feel blessed to welcome each new family. I believe parents have the right and responsibility to seek out the information they need in order to feel confident in their choices surrounding pregnancy, birth, and parenting. As a doula, I see my role as being a provider of loving support (both physical and emotional), evidence-based information, and kind encouragement for mom to guide her toward the most positive, desired and empowering life experience possible.
I am currently attending Birth Arts International to become a Certified Childbirth Educator. My services are extended throughout all of Broward County and Dade County. I am familiar with the local hospitals, birthing centers and midwives that attend home births.
I am a native of Florida and have the loving support of my extended family close by. My family is my foundation. Prior to becoming a doula, I served 4 years in the United States Army as a field medic and spent 12 years in retail management. At the end of my military service, I experienced the transformation from a soldier to a mother. I am also a volunteer for OSD (Operation Special Delivery).
I look forward to meeting you, guiding you, and supporting you through your birth journey.
